What a better way to resume blogging than to write about TCS IT Wiz.

I’m sorry I’m not regular enough, and I’ll promise I wont be blogging anytime soon too. Lots of studies coming up and going on.

This year’s quiz was good. The bar was finally raised, and congratulations to Prempal and Anshul from New Era Public School for winning it! I didn’t even make it to the 7th or 8th position, but boy was the quiz great.

As I type this, Shikhar is working furiously on an archive of the finals.

gyaan.in is hosting its first quiz. And the venue is -wait for it- IIT-Delhi! The place every engineering student aspires to be, and spends a lakh and a half to try and get there too.

Want to see it? Come for the quiz. Everyone’s invited. Even Chelsea fans (though you must be prepared for a hostile reception, as one of the quizmasters is a hardcore Man Utd fan.)

Venue: 2LT II, Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi.

Time: 11.00 PM, but be there by 10.30. Not like Tony Stark who will “be there by eleven” for a nine-thirty dinner.

Age Limit: None.

Team Information: Any number of teams can come, but please limit team members to four per team. Four is only the limit, so you can have a team of three or two, and can even participate as an individual.

This little gem comes from Shikhar, who overheard someone’s conversation somewhere. Bad boy!

But then, this is something all of us come across one time or the other.

Wait till the iPodfather reads this. He may swell with pride (and burst) and/or shrivel in the wake of extreme stupidity. Either way, his weak liver is definitely not going to take this load.

This is right after Interface 2007 at St. Xaviers Raj Nivas Marg. Mridul and me just finished the quiz, and came first (yay!), but couldn’t get a simple question regarding Gordon Freeman. I had no clue who he was, and neither did Mridul, as we’re not gamers. Both of us don’t have gaming PCs (Mridul just got a good laptop for college, though). And Shikhar was scoffing at us:

Shikhar: You didn’t get Gordon Freeman?

Mridul: Kaun Gordon Freeman?

Shikhar: Woh Half-Life wala! He’s the most famous gaming character ever.

Mridul: Abe, sabse famous toh Mario hee hai!

A small Google search on the topic “GameSpot’s All Time Greatest Game Hero” should throw some light on the purpose of this post. Go figure.

Alive

This blog is alive. I couldn’t post all this while as all landline phone in the neighbourhood are dead. Courtesy MTNL. Plus FIITJEE. Plus WordPress’s mobile site sucks. More later. After MTNL repairs stuff. Blogging via my phone now.

Earth Hour

Today, my dear friends, is a nice time for payback. That’s right. Its payback time. To the environment! Today happens to be the day when we celebrate the Earth Hour. Its really simple, actually. Just switch of all electrical appliances for an hour (starting at 2030 hours local time till 2130). I’m planning to go out for a walk because I simply cannot bear the extreme heat in the house. I suggest you do that too. Arm yourself with that PMP of yours and do carry thirty bucks to buy a Kwality Walls ice-cream.
More than all the “I worry about the environment”, I’m interested in the stats. Last year’s Earth Hour was a success and studies showed the phenomenal amount of energy we saved throughout the world. Lets do it again, and give scientists something to work on, and spend all our taxes the government has given them.
Do note that turning off all electrical appliances includes your television set as well. Watching the IPL is not an excuse.

In other news, Manchester United is back where it belongs – on the top of the Premier League table. And Delhi Daredevils are catching up quickly in the other Premier League

I would have thrown in some links and photos (especially of the famous buildings such as the Taipei 101 going black during the earth hour), but I can’t because I’m posting from my phone. WordPress’s mobile site is very, very basic. Too bad I don’t have an iPhone
